This research aims to study the emotional adaptation of teenagers who have been effected by being from a divorced family and developing the consulting process to help the emotional adaptation of teenagers from divorced families. The mixed methods approach were used in this study. Firstly, the qualitative methodology, in-depth interview and non-participant observation were employed with the ten participants, who were in the secondary school and parents who had been divorced since the children were young. Next, in terms of quasi-experimental research, the researcher invented instruments to provide an individual consultation with five selected participants which were found that the participants had emotional problems and negative behaviors. There were two parts to the findings. Part one, studied the effects from the divorced family to the emotional adaptation of teenagers found that negative behaviors, including the emotions of their parents and relatives affected their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. It was found that teenagers adapted their emotion into three types, i.e. 1) Blaming is an adaptation which results in reacting aggressively and emotionally when angry and unsatisfied; 2) Placating is an adaptation that teenagers use to keep their feelings under control and follow others because they wish to be accepted by others; 3) Irrelevance is an adaptation used to avoid pain or unwanted situations. In Part two, the process of improving individual consultations in which the techniques and theories were applied, i.e. Rational Emotive Behavior Counseling Theory, Satir Transformation Therapy and Reality Counseling Theory. It is consisted of five methods: 1) Building a relationship in order to enhance trust, self-confidence and responded with love and acceptance; 2) Exploring problems in order to help them to understand more about themselves; 3) Understanding problems in order to help them to identify problems, to believe in their potential and the fact that they could be improved; 4) Planning to solve problems in order to help them to plan how to improve themselves and gain more self-esteem; 5) Closing the process in order to give them time to think or review what they had gained from consultations in order to have more self-esteem. The researcher found that every participant positively improved their thoughts, emotions and behaviors.
