Abstract
The objectives of this study were to analyze, assess, and present guidelines for handling tourism risks
associated with the Khao Khitchakut Footprint Worship Tradition in Chanthaburi Province. To analyze and
examine the tourism risks, there was using purposive sampling method to select 50 Thai tourists as key
informants and collecting data by using semi - structure interview form. The results were summarized,
evaluated, and interpreted using the COSO Enterprise Risk Management concept to get the risk level ratings.
To present guidelines for handling tourism risks, there were 50 stakeholders including key, casual and general
informants and collecting data by using semi - structure interview form as a tool to assessment and developed
guidelines for responding to tourism risks. The research results founded that the Khao Khitchakut Footprint
Worship Tradition's tourism risks in Chanthaburi Province can be divided into five areas: security risks, tourism
image and utilities risks, public health risks, natural disaster risks, and investment risks. The greatest risk was
from natural disasters, followed by hazards to public health and security were in high level, investments settled
in moderate level. The lowest risks were from risks related to tourism image and public utilities. Guidelines for
responding to tourism risks advise that in order to prevent and manage potential risks and create sustainability
in tourism management, the government should foster participation of local stakeholders and the general public
in planning and formulating policies that lead to acceptance and implementation of tourism management.
