บทคัดย่อ: Nowadays, the scientific and technological importance of ionic liquids (ILs) have expanded a wide range of applications, owing to their unique physicochemical properties, such as thermal and chemical stability, low melting point, negligible volatility, flame retardancy, high ionic conductivity, moderate viscosity, high polarity, and solubility/affinity with many compounds. Electrochemical processes have been another important application area for ILs. The advantages of ILs over common aqueous or organic media in this field are their wide electrochemical window, high conductivity, and vanishingly low vapor pressure. The most important advances in this field depend on the development of new sensors for various applications. This chapter will discussed of the properties of ILs and their general applications based on these properties, especially the application of ILs in electroanalytical area. They concerned the current achievements and their applicability in electroanalytical measurements within the period of 2006-2011. © 2012 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc. All rights reserved.
