Abstract
There are urgent sustainability challenges as a result of the software development industry's increased energy usage due to the quick development of digital technology. Through resource efficiency, sustainable design, and effective coding, green software development (GSD) allays these worries; yet, organizational, technological, and behavioral obstacles stand in the way of its widespread implementation. An adoption framework is suggested in this study to help businesses integrate GSD practices. The five steps of the framework-awareness and intention, evaluation and decision, implementation, monitoring and feedback, and institutionalization-are based on theories of technology adoption and sustainability. Emerging technology preparedness, organizational culture change readiness, infrastructural and structural change readiness, green coding process readiness, and external environment readiness are among the essential elements. The framework provides useful information for companies, developers, and legislators while also advancing knowledge of sustainable adoption.
