Abstract

This engineering project intends to develop a manikin for practicing the curettage procedure. In Thailand, the mortality rate due to cervical cancer is 4,500 cases per year, with approximately 8,000 new patients annually. Uterine curettage is crucial for both diagnosis and treatment as it allows for the examination of tissue samples to determine the location and type of cancer, whether it's cervical or uterine cancer. Therefore, training in uterine curettage procedures is essential for healthcare professionals to ensure the safest and most effective care for patients. Currently, doctors only learn the procedural steps for uterine curettage because lack of a training manikin for practicing curettage skills. For the above reasons Developing a training manikin for practicing cervical scraping procedures will help doctors improve their skills. Each cervical scraping procedure has its own risks and requirements for a professional. This engineering project succeeded in simulating realistic human anatomy for practice by creating a realistic model which was tested by a team of doctors who gave the most satisfactory score is the paraffin which has the mean score of 3.75 Out of 5.00.
