Abstract
This paper proposes an unsymmetrical two-phase induction motor propulsion coupling with separately-excited DC generator by Matlab/Simulink. This propulsion composes of two parts. One is two-phase three-leg voltage source inverter by means of continuous unbalanced space vector pulse width modulation for the induction motor, which is controlled by slip regulation control. The other is four-quadrant DC chopper supplied with constant DC-link voltage of a three-phase grid-connected converter, which feed into armature winding of the DC generator using torque control. The simulation results was found that the induction motor was capable of constant speed at 1,450 rpm while taken load at 10 Nm with torque control of the four-quadrant DC chopper for DC generator. Furthermore, The DC generator was able to flow power to grid by the grid-connected converter. To conclude, the propulsion is good, since grid current in the generator drive part was nearly sinusoidal waveform and power in the same part can flow to grid, which can save energy and improve power factor. © 2019 IEEE.
