Abstract

Luteoma is a benign ovarian neoplasm, usually incidentally found during pregnancy. It can produce androgenic hormones. Most cases are asymptomatic, while a few present with maternal and/or neonatal virilization. Its etiology is still unclear and may relate to human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) stimulation. Pregnancy luteoma will resolve spontaneously after childbirth. The early recognition and prompt diagnosis can save the ovary from unnecessary surgery. © JOURNAL OF THE MEDICAL ASSOCIATION OF THAILAND
