Abstract

This study explores the impact of learning organization (LO) and employees’ organizational behaviors in the hotel industry in Bangkok during the COVID-19 pandemic. The sample group consisted of 392 business owners, executive board members, and managers from the hotel industry. Data were analyzed using the structural equation model (SEM) method to test the relationships among the mediator variables, including work engagement (WE), organizational commitment (OC), intention to stay (IS), and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). The findings revealed that (1) LO displayed a positive linear relationship with WE, OC, and IS; and (2) OCB was affected by WE and OC prior to the IS linear relationship (p < 0.05). The findings suggest that LO is an important variable during the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting knowledge sharing and maintaining employees’ positive organizational behaviors through their “new normal” and dynamic work experiences. Such positive behaviors, which include WE and OC could lead to other desirable behaviors such as OCB and IS. Clearly, when organizational practices are appropriately set, hotels and their employees can thrive in an outcome-based work environment. © 2021, ABAC Journal. All Rights Reserved.
