Writing about dance – this ephemeral, multi-level and abstract form of art, although very personal and directly related to man – his body, mind and spirit, is extremely difficult. Describing the matter of movement in words, one should use an adequate and broad language, rich in appropriate nomenclature. An author writing about dance is best if he has artistic, creative and pedagogical experience in the area of this field of art. However, movement cannot be fully described in words. Dance has very complex features and ambiguous interpretations. Writing about dance takes extraordinary courage. Writing about contemporary dance is a special and much more difficult task. Contemporary dance, which is a major component of dance art in the 21st century, is so multi-contextual, complex, stylistically diverse, vast and multi-colored. It is difficult for us, modern people, to capture its genres, features, correlations or distinctions in words. Dharakorn Chandnasaro bravely undertook such an attempt. His “Aesthetics, Perspectives, and Interpretations of Dance in the 21st Century” is an excellent example of a fusion that includes the author's extensive artistic and pedagogical experience, knowledge of dance history and choreology, and skills in verbal, accurate description of dance. The world of 21st century dance as described in the words of Dharakorn Chandnasaro is filled to the brim, saturated with information, meticulously and methodically reported in many of its areas. The over 400-page publication is a perfectly planned and thoughtfully constructed scientific proposal. From every page of the book the reader learns a lot about the phenomenon of dance. Eight extensive chapters present the art of dance in the 21st century from different perspectives. Each of them is analyzed cross-sectionally, summarily, concluding the essence of the content. The author guides the reader through the intricacies of the art of dance in the 21st century from different perspectives. He does it in a light, clear, logical and very interesting way. He invites us on a journey through the very intense and diverse world of dance. This world is described by the author in words in such a way, that the reader traveling with him immerses himself in this world and travels from the beginning to the end of the book in one breath... “Aesthetics, Perspectives, and Interpretations of Dance in the 21st Century” by Dharakorn Chandnasaro should be required reading for anyone who makes dance their primary professional pursuit. I also recommend it to anyone interested in dance as a passionate enthusiast. This book is a fascinating journey through the contemporary world of dance.... " "Forward prof. dr hab.
