Abstract

This study aims to develop a rehabilitation system for patients with neurological disorders by integrating a smartphone application with motion sensors to support water-pouring training. The system processes tilt angle data and visualizes water levels through animation, with calibration performed using a standard digital protractor to evaluate accuracy. The results show that the system achieved an average accuracy of 85.6% across 50 trials and demonstrated consistency with real conditions overall; however, accuracy decreased at higher tilt angles due to increased water flow. Task performance analysis indicated that trials with water required longer time (mean = 33.4 s) and showed higher variability compared to empty-glass trials, reflecting the impact of liquid weight and resistance on motor control. Expert evaluation from occupational therapists suggests that the system has strong potential for practical application in neurological rehabilitation, although further improvements in system accuracy and usability are necessary for real-world implementation.
