Abstract
Over the past decade, Thailand’s economic growth rate has averaged only 3% per year, insufficient to overcome the “middle-income trap.” To address this, the country must transform its economic and social development model by leveraging its biodiversity and cultural diversity. This research explores the relationship between community resources and economic development mechanisms, with a focus on resource management’s role in shaping local economies. Both natural and human resources are vital for sustainable growth, with effective management fostering local economic development. The study emphasizes integrating human resources into economic frameworks to enhance community potential while using modern technology and innovation to break limitations. It highlights sustainable practices like infrastructure development, equitable income distribution, and resource preservation. The research also examines eco-tourism management through a case study of Ban Koh Klang, Krabi Province, employing qualitative methods such as non-participant observation and semi-structured interviews. Data from primary and secondary sources were analyzed to provide a comprehensive understanding. Thailand’s transformation is guided by the BCG Economy Model, which integrates Bioeconomy, Circular Economy, and Green Economy to drive balanced and sustainable development. The model aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP). By utilizing scientific knowledge, technology, and innovation, the BCG Model creates added value from biodiversity and cultural resources. Collaboration through the Quadruple Helix mechanism—government, private sector, academia, and local communities—is crucial for fostering inclusive and sustainable growth.
