Abstract

This article aims to study the cultural expansion of Japan through its popular culture policy to Thai society since 1970s. As Japan reached its highest point in term of economic achievement, its economic and cultural influence had played a substantial role in Thai society for a period of time. The research findings indicated that, as Japanese popular culture spread into Thailand, outcome was the influential Japanese trends drew by Japanese comic, movie, music, fashion, cuisine, as well as equipment, some would became less popular as time goes by but new trend would arise to replace in the meantime. Consequently, the study regarding this topic exemplifies the progression and promulgation of Japanese culture according to the concept of soft power since this policy contributed to social transformation in various areas.
