Abstract

This article is studying about lateral thinking in visual art of Thai artist. The studying studied by case study in Adjunct Professor Chalerm Nakirak’s works. Professor Chalerm Nakirak’s work can classify 2 kinds. The first work is international style visual arts. And the other is applied traditional art that he changed something from old style. Then it is his identity in his works and it showed us about his lateral thinking. The aims of the study is studying about lateral thinking in visual art of Adjunct Professor Chalerm Nakirak and studying about identity in Adjunct Professor Chalerm Nakirak’s works. The result of the study is Adjunct Professor Chalerm Nakirak created new idea in traditional art that difference from old traditional art. Althought many peoples adjudged him about style changing but Adjunct Professor Chalerm Nakirak still continued to create in his style. Adjunct Professor Chalerm Nakirak, a famous Thai artist, who favors both pre – modern and modern styles of visual arts, has his own way to mix both styles together so that it becomes his own style. His style on his work gave him well known and famous for Thai artists and visual art collectors both of Thai and foreigner.
