Abstract

Currently, Thailand has entered an aging society, leading to an increasing number of Parkinson’s disease patients, while the number of caregivers has decreased. This results in inadequate and inefficient therapy and care. Parkinson’s disease causes patients to have soft speech, unclear articulation, and abnormal speech rhythm, which impacts their quality of life and communication. Moreover, therapy requires consistent and long-term effort. Introducing technology to assist in therapy by developing an application is one approach to help patients engage in regular and convenient therapy, improving access to treatment and enabling them to regain normal speech. This project aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of a speech training application for Parkinson’s disease patients with dysarthria is a motor speech disorder of neurological origin and is characterized by deficits in the execution of movement for speech. The application is designed using sound processing and voice loudness analysis technologies to allow patients to practice speaking independently at home. It includes exercises focusing on controlling volume, clarity, and speech rhythm, with difficulty levels tailored to the user’s abilities. The study involved a sample group of 10 medical personnel. The analysis of the results showed that this application meets the needs of medical personnel who care for Parkinson's patients. Medical personnel who care for Parkinson's patients also believe that it can be expanded to use with patients and the elderly who have speech problems.
