The purpose of this research was to study the causal model which influenced the health promoting behavior of health personnel in Phetchabun Province. The sample was 781 health personnel in Phetchabun Province who were selected through the use of the twostage random sampling. The research tools used were questionnaires regarding health promoting behavior (HPB), perception factors (PERCEIVE), immediate competing and preferences (ICP) factor, external influence factors (INFLUENCE), and commitment to a plan of action (CPA) factor. The data was analyzed using the Version 8.80 LISREL Program. The research results revealed that the model fit to the empirical data as follows: chi-square (χ2) was 127.65, the probability (P) was.00, the degree of freedom (df) was 53, the chi-square of degree of freedom (χ2 /df) was 2.40, the goodness of fit index (GFI) was.97, the adjusted goodness of fit index (AGFI) was.95, the standardized root mean square residual (SRMR) was.02, and the root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) was.04. The model could explain the variance of factors of health promoting behavior at 70%. The factors which had the most direct effect on health promoting behavior were perception factors, the commitment to a plan of action, and immediate competing and preferences at. 43,.30 and.10 respectively. External influences had the least direct effect at.09. The factors with an indirect effect on health promoting behavior through the commitment to a plan of action were immediate competing and preferences, perception factors, and external influence at.22,.07 and -0.01 respectively.
