Abstract
The genus Limnophila, belongs to the family Plantaginaceae, has economic importance and many valuable uses such as vegetables, aquarium plants and local medicinal plants. The objectives of this study are to investigate the phytochemical constituents of crude ethanolic extract and its antioxidant activity from six taxa of Limnophila, viz. L. balsamea (Benth.) Benth., L. geoffrayi Bonati, L. laotica Bonati 1, L. laotica Bonati 2, L. micrantha (Benth.) Benth. and L. sp. The plant ethanolic extract was analyzed on FT-IR and GC-MS for preliminary phytochemical component screening. The antioxidant activities were performed with a DPPH assay. The results showed that the functional group by FT-IR analysis were alcohol (-OH stretching), alkane (C-H stretching), carbonyl (C=O stretching) and alkene (C=C stretching) except for the amines (N-H bending) was found in L. balsamea (Benth.) Benth., L. laotica Bonati 1, L. laotica Bonati 2, L. micrantha (Benth.) Benth. and the nitro groups (N-O symmetric stretching) was found in L. geoffrayi Bonati and L. sp. The qualitative analysis of phytochemical constituents of crude ethanolic extract by GC-MS, all taxa consisted of alkane, carboxylic acid, ester, ketone and terpenes. The identification of the constituents by comparing their mass spectra fragmentation pattern and their retention indices with that of NIST14 Library with a minimum similarity level of 80%. The most phytochemical constituents were found in L. geoffrayi Bonati at 19 compounds followed by L. micrantha (Benth.) Benth., L. laotica Bonati 1, L. laotica Bonati 2, L. balsamea (Benth.) Benth., และ L. sp. at 14, 11, 7, 7 and 3 compounds, respectively. In regard to the antioxidant property of DPPH radical scavenging, the highest antioxidant activity was found in L. geoffrayi Bonati, followed by L. micrantha (Benth.) Benth., L. balsamea (Benth.) Benth., L. laotica Bonati 1, L. laotica Bonati 2 and L. sp. as the IC50 values were 0.37, 0.41, 0.75, 0.95, 1.18 and 1.37 mg/ml, respectively
พืชในสกุลผักกะแยง (Limnophila) จัดอยู่ในวงศ์เทียนเกล็ดหอย (Plantaginaceae) ซึ่งพืชในสกุลนี้หลายชนิดมีความสำคัญทางเศรษฐกิจและใช้ประโยชน์ได้หลากหลาย ได้แก่ รับประทานเป็นผัก พืชประดับตู้ปลา และสมุนไพรพื้นบ้าน การศึกษาครั้งนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษากลุ่มสารพฤกษเคมีเบื้องต้นและศึกษาฤทธิ์ต้านอนุมูลอิสระของสารสกัดหยาบเอทานอลจากผักแขยง จำนวน 6 แทกซ่า ได้แก่ L. balsamea (Benth.) Benth., L. geoffrayi Bonati, L. laotica Bonati 1, L. laotica Bonati 2, L. micrantha (Benth.) Benth. และ L. sp. โดยศึกษาองค์ประกอบทางเคมีเบื้องต้นด้วยเครื่อง FT-IR และ GC-MS และศึกษาฤทธิ์การต้านอนุมูลอิสระด้วยวิธี DPPH assay ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การวิเคราะห์หมู่ฟังก์ชันด้วยเครื่อง FT-IR พบว่าสารสกัดหยาบของทุกแทกซ่ามีหมู่ฟังก์ชันเหมือนกัน ได้แก่ แอลกฮอล์ (-OH stretching) แอลเคน (C-H stretching) คาร์บอนิล (C=O stretching) (C-O stretching) แอลคีน (C=C stretching) ยกเว้นหมู่ฟังก์ชัน เอมีน (N-H bending) พบเฉพาะใน L. balsamea (Benth.) Benth., L. laotica Bonati 1, L. laotica Bonati 2, L. micrantha (Benth.) Benth. และพบหมู่ฟังก์ชันสารประกอบไนโทร (N-O symmetric stretching) เฉพาะใน L. geoffrayi Bonati และ L. sp. การศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพของสารพฤกษเคมีด้วยเครื่อง GC-MS พบว่า สารสกัดหยาบของผักแขยงทุกแทกซ่ามีสารพฤกษเคมีที่สำคัญ ได้แก่ แอลเคน เอสเทอร์ กรดคาร์บอกซิลิก คีโตน และเทอร์พีน และเมื่อเปรียบเทียบรูปแบบ mass spectra กับ NIST14. Library ที่มีเปอร์เซ็นต์ความใกล้เคียงไม่น้อยกว่าร้อยละ 80 พบว่า L. geoffrayi Bonati พบสารพฤกษเคมีมากที่สุด 19 สาร รองลงมาคือ L. micrantha (Benth.) Benth., L. laotica Bonati 1, L. laotica Bonati 2, L. balsamea (Benth.)
