dc.description.abstractThe current population situation in Thailand has become an aging society. The elderly group is a new market for tourism business, which is normally targeted as high purchasing power group. This research aims to study the ability to access tourist attractions for the elderly by using public transport in Bangkok Metropolis. The study area provides many modes of public transport to choose, which are ease and convenience to travel. These will help the elderly in the city to live and to do activities outside their homes. The service area of public transport within a specific distance, under the limitation of the elderly, can walk within 400 m to reach public transport stations, and an average walking time is 1.21 m/s (4.34 km/h). The results show that appropriate tourist attractions for the elderly reached by public transport in Bangkok Metropolis consist of 403 places, which were found in the Bangkok inner zone. These comprise of 87 department stores, 237 tourist attractions, and 79 parks. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
