Abstract:
The glass company wanted to increase the efficiency of transportation by using the side curtain truck. This engineering project aimed to design and develop the side curtain truck for preventing product damages during shipment. The quality function deployment (QFD) was applied as a design tool and the results showed as follows: 1) container should make from steel and make by a standardized company 2) heavy canvas should be used for covering a truck by sliding side to side 3) a webbing and a top rail stopper should be used for holding the product.
The side curtain truck was built followed by interviewing the satisfaction of the drivers before going to the real test drive. The result showed that the drivers were satisfied with the methods of workpiece gripping because the top rail stopper helped to reduce exertion during strapping. In addition, it also helped to hold the product during shipment.
