Abstract:
This research aimed to study tourist behavior and motivation for tourism involving water recreation
activities in the parks of Bangkok metropolis. The samples used in the study were Thai tourists who traveled
to engage in water recreation activities in the parks, totaling 388 people. The data were analyzed using
computer programs for frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and One-way ANOVA. The research
results were found that respondents were the females aged between 15 - 20 years old, who were students
pursuing bachelor's degree, with a monthly salary of under 15,000 baths. Respondents had traveled to water
recreation activities in the parks in Bangkok the 2-3 times. Their main purpose of visiting was to relax and
engage in water recreation activities. Most of the respondents have traveled to the Benjakitti park to do
Paddle Boating with their friends on weekends. Respondents had spent between 100 - 200 Bath on travel.
They obtained information about water recreation activities from social media platforms such as Facebook.
The motivation for tourism involving water recreation activities in the parks of Bangkok metropolis was ranked
at a high level in terms of physical motivation, status motivation, and interpersonal motivation, respectively, whereas emotional motivation was ranked at the highest level. The difference in salary and each park did not affect the motivations towards the overall motivation for tourism involving water recreation activities in the parks of Bangkok metropolis.
