Abstract:
Today's jewelry design looks more contemporary, emphasizing on self-expression. By reflecting the perspectives and ideas of designers and artists in the context of society, culture, ethnicity, aesthetics, technology, and way of life. Through designs that are unique and in line with current lifestyles, creating new styles. Thus, this research presents strategies and guidelines for designing contemporary jewelry from cultural capital, using the Eastern Lanna area as a case study. The objectives of this research are: 1) To study, analyze, and synthesize Eastern Lanna identity for use as a guideline for designing contemporary jewelry that reflects Eastern Lanna identity; 2) To design and create a prototype of contemporary Eastern Lanna identity jewelry. and 3) To disseminate knowledge of contemporary jewelry design with Eastern Lanna identity. and evaluate the perception and satisfaction of jewelry prototypes.
The results showed that Eastern Lanna Identity jewelry in this research uses the BLEND strategy in design, developed from the interpretation of the identity, image and identity of the provinces in the Eastern Lanna group. The proposed strategy is a design development in the form of integrated design. Hybridization. The guidelines for creative design have created terms and conditions for design. In presenting the identity of each province as a representative in 4 elements: 1. representative colors 2. representative materials 3. representative patterns/shapes and 4 representative story contents, which is a synthesis through perception from data collection, interviews, and field visits. The researcher designed and produced 4 sets of jewelry to present the identity of each province. The results of the evaluation of jewelry prototypes by jewelry designers and jewelry consumers revealed that Jewelry developed under the BLEND strategy can well express the Lanna identity of the East. It is a concept development that creates new knowledge in jewelry design. Create value and value responding to the current economy as part of the utilization of cultural capital in developing the country.
