Abstract:
Communication through the application Line is a very popular in Thailand since it is like
talking face to face. However, the ease of communication sometimes leads to
misunderstandings. In this research, we analyze the causes of misunderstanding in
communication through the application Line. Data were collected from 100 participants who
complete a questionnaire. The framework of Bazzanella & Damiano (1999) was used to analyze
the data and to construct a questionnaire. The analysis shows that the major cause of
misunderstandings was due to incomplete reading, skipping messages and wrong
interpretation of communication. We found that the only difference between genders was that males put more importance on misunderstandings caused by the incomplete reading of the text
and skipping messages than did females.
