Abstract

This engineering project was aimed to use ultrasonic assisted extraction of gamma - oryzanol from rice bran (Oryza Sativa Linn) and to optimize extraction by studying the effects of temperature , extraction time and ratio of rice bran dry weight to volume of ethanol. The result showed that the optimum condition was temperature at 70 °C with 90 minute of extraction time and ratios of rice bran dry weight to volume of ethanol was 10 g/L 5 the amount gamma - oryzanol from extraction was 6.3834 mg/g - dry weight and the percentage of relative recovery was 258.16.
