Abstract:
The products from crude oil drilling process are crude oil, sand and water. The simulation of
this products flow in hydrocyclone using CFD technique are carried out in this research, in order
to design hydrocyclone separation system for down-hole separation. The obtained simulation
results were agreed with the experimental data of Amini et al. (2012). The hydrocyclone
separation system in down-hole then was designed. The system consists of two hydrocyclones.
The first hydrocyclone was used to separate the sand from the water and the crude oil. The second
hydrocyclone was used separate the crude oil from the water. It was found that the hydrocyclones
operate at the feed flow rate of 70 liters per minute gave the best separation efficiency.
