Abstract:
The purpose of this research were to study the public consciousness components of under graduate students in higher education institutes in Bangkok and to develop a training program to enhance a public consciousness of under graduate students of Srinakharinwirot University. In the first part, the subjects were 624 students randomly selected from 19 universities in Bangkok area in academic year 2014. The instrument used for collecting data was a Likert-type, five-point rating scale questionnaire of 96 items on public consciousness. The statistical method used for analytical data included percentage, mean, standard deviation, confirmatory factor analysis and t-test. The results showed that the confirmatory factors analysis significantly confirmed that the method of the public consciousness could be characterized into eight factors: co-problem awareness wisdom, Love generosity and unity, Social participation, Public Responsibility, To praise honor others, Standard working, Continuous communication and cooperative network connection, knowledge and knowledge acquisition capacity. This eight factors had high loading at the .05 significant level and could be used to measure the public consciousness of university students in Bangkok. In the second part of the research, a training program to enhance public consciousness of students was developed using data from the first part as a database. A sample of 30 undergraduate students randomly selected from Srinakharinwirot University was included in the study. A one group pretest-postest design was employed and the resulted showed that after participating in the training program, students score significantly high than before participating in each factor and overall. Students also reported a high satisfactory score for the training program.
