Abstract:
This study, “Bor-won : The sustainability of identity in Wiang Phrae, is a qualitative research which aims to study the relation between house, temple, and school which leads to sustainability of identity in Wiang Phrae. The methodology adopted in the study includes document research, in-depth interview and participant observation. Key informants in the study consist of community leaders, community philosophers. spiritual leaders and the elderly in the area. The study results indicated nowadays Wiang Phrae is an individual society. Social Practice is reflection of collective memory of local people from history such as Robbery of Ngiaw or wood business of Jao-wong Sansiripant. The collective memory causes an uniqued social phenomenon leads to an assembly of the identity in Wiang Phrae nowadays. The social phenomena in Wiang Phrae can be seen in types of traditions, culture, and worships. In addition, the relation between house temple and school is shown in the market. The market is an area of students to show their performances’ in playing, singing and dancing. The study concludes that the image of social institutions, house templs and school, has shown the sustainability of the relation in the area since in the past and leads to the sustainability identity nowadays.
