Abstract:
This research was aimed to study conservation, transmission and creation strategies of Thai Puppets of Baan Tookkatoon Hoonkrabok Thai and used a qualitative method with a purposive sampling, in-depth interviews of a Baan Tookkatoon founder and seven performers and data syntheses of documents, exhibition boards and a Facebook of Baan Tookkatoon. The research found that Baan Tookkatoon employed the conservative methods by inventing them traditionally and learning to perform the puppets from National Artist in Thai puppet performance. The transmitting method of Baan Tookkatoon consisted of 3 ways including (1) publicizing Thai puppets through exhibition boards, show performance in both public and private sectors, and Tookkatoon Studio and Theatre, (2) recognizing the existence of the Thai puppets by creating a website and Facebook, and (3) the transmitting method divided into two including the mini puppet invention and the puppet performance. For the creative method, Baan Tookkatoon applied the puppet performance in accordance with modern age and new generation characters. Moreover, Baan Tookkatoon developed its own puppet’s mechanism through the research and development process.
