This study of the intersection of polytheism in the Bangkok metropolitan aims to examine the origin of
the spirit cult and the relationship between the cult and the growth of Bangkok. The methodologies usedare
participant observations and interviews, and the analytical concepts used comprising the urban development
and religion in the civil society. The results showed that Ratchaprasong Intersection is the intersection of
capitalism. This intersection was constructed with uniquely developed surroundings with large department
stores and many business buildings. Sculptures of 7 gods are located at every corner of the intersection:
Brahman, Trimurti of Brahma, Vishnu, Ganesh Kh Juan, Lakshmi, Indra and Vishnu standing on Anantanakkharat.
The divine origin of each sculpture is created in relevant with the sacred space.It includes the purposes of selfrelief
or extra fortune auspicious for business and fulfilling all wishes in life. As the area of Ratchaprasong
Intersection is full of competitions and economic growth,the psychological anchor is often needed and
essentially required in businesscompetitions. It is not only in business, but also living in the world today, as
everyone seeks to live as full of love, education, security abundance. |
