Abstract:
This paper is a part of the research “The study of Urban Area Development in Bangkok Metropolitan: A Case Study of Soi 1-23 Sukhumvit Road”. It presents some essential aspects and examples of maps of urbanization on Sukhumvit Road. The methodologies used are literature review and participant observation. The findings reveal that Sukhumvit Road was built by Phra Pisarnsukhumvit in 1936. The area was formerly nice fields called Thung Bang Kapi, with no house or contructions. The urbanization began in the reign of King Rama V in accordance with the urban development policy. Nowadays, Sukhumvit is one of the most highly developed areas in Bangkok. It is also the area of business, expensive residence, and day and night tourism with a lot of foreigners
