Abstract:
The research was aimed to study the behaviours of adventure tourists in Ko Lan, Chonburi and to
present guidelines for adventure tourism management in Ko Lan, Chonburi.
This research was a Mixed-Method Research between quantitative and qualitative using questionnaires and
semi-structured interviews. Collecting questionnaires from 385 tourists. By Cochran sampling techniques
with accidental sampling techniques. The examination of content validity was 0.77 and reliability utilized Cronbach’s alpha was 0.85. For qualitative method, the semi - constructed interview was conducted with
5 experts on Ko Lan's adventure tourism, The research results showed that:
1. Most of the respondents were female, age between 20 – 30 years old, students, single. The
average monthly income was 15,001-25,000 baht, preferred to relax on the beach. The goal of travel was
for fun and there were preparations for activities. The respondents travelled with rental motorcycles and
could take moderate risks in doing adventure activities. Preferred to travel during summer and holidays.
The budget for adventure activities was about 1,001 – 2,000 baht per activity, travelled with a group of
friends. Find out about adventure tourism from social media, interested in kayaking, jet skiing, scenic driving,
and scenic bike riding. The respondent expected that Ko Lan could have a beautiful scenery and safety
adventure activities. The level of opinion towards adventure tourism at Ko Lan in high level.
2. According to the interviews, the situation of adventure tourism in Ko Lan was recovering. There
were variety adventure activities both land and marine. Tourism infrastructures and facilities should be
managed. In adventure tourism management should concern about environment and garbage problems.
3. The management guideline for Adventure Tourism in Ko Lan, Chonburi can be presented with
the “FESTS” approach F – Facilities, E – Experience, S – Safety, T – Togetherness and S – Sustainability.
