Abstract:
The research aims to study the body of knowledge of a Folk healer and risk factors for the loss
and persistence of local wisdom for fracture treatment. This is the qualitative research.by employing, the
Participative Observation and In-dept Interview. The key informants include one folk healer, four Fracture
patients and one Representative from Department of Cultural Promotion, by Purposive sampling method
and Case-by-case sampling method.
The results find that, the fracture treatment of folk healer is a combination of natural science and
scientific science. This is the very identity of the treatment of fractures by folk healer. Therefore, the
treatment process can be classified into 2 types: ritual and knowledge used in the treatment. The most
common risk factor for loss is the absence of inheritance of both children and blood kin. Even those who
are interested in learning cannot fully devote time to learn. Therefore, the persistence of wisdom
depends on the cooperation of agencies and people who are involved with it.
