Abstract:
The aim of this project is study about the effect of air-fuel ratio on exhaust gas
formation of carburetor gasoline engines. Using exhaust gas analyser to measure exhaust gas
formation by adjust the air - fuel ratio of the carburetor in the range AFR 10:1 - 17:1 of rich and
lean at each engine speed. Finally information from measuring was analyzed.
The experiment shows that the amount of exhaust gas depend on the air - fuel ratio.
For the rich , exhaust gas will expose high in HC and co and low in O2 and CO2 . Forstoichiometric air - fuel ratio, exposing high in CO2 and low in HC , co and O2 . For lean, exposing high in HC and O2 and low in CO2 and co. Besides , at high engine speed of everyair - fuel ratio will expose high in HC , co and O2 and low in CO2 and expose low in HC , coand O2 and high in CO2 at low engine speed .
