Abstract:
The objective of this study is to develop mechanical properties of 0-30% by weight of alumina-reinforced polybenzoxazine (PBA-35x) modified with dianhydrides, i.e. 3,3', 4,4' benzophenonctetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA) and pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) at mole ratio of benzoxazine resin : dianhydride equal to 2 : 1. The results showed that the mechanical properties of the PBA-35x/ dianhydride reinforced with alumina filler were increased with increasing of alumina contents. The BTDA-modified polybenzoxazinc reinforced with 25% by weight of alumina filler displayed the tensile modulus of 2.65 ± 0.21 GPa, tensile strength of 25.73 ± 6.25 MPa, elongation at break of 1.15% and toughness of 187.28 ±134.37 kJ/m3, while tensile modulus, tensile strength, elongation at break and toughness of the PMDA-modified polybenzoxazinc reinforced with 20% by weight of alumina filler showed approximately 2.10 ± 0.14 GPa, 14.76 ±5.18 MPa, 1.11% and 89.74 ± 70.62 kJ/m’\ respectively.
