Abstract:
The aim of this chemical engineering project was to study the removal of dyes using titanium dioxide supported fiber (nylon 6,6) as photocatalyst. Benebinder 730 was use as binder for binding with titanium dioxide powder and fiber. The optimum ratio of TiO2 : Benebider 730 was found at 2:1 by weight and the weight of supported TiO2 was 0.1378 g/m of fiber. The optimum conditions of photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue was pH 3, and 1.6929 g total weight of titanium dioxide supported fiber. The photocatalytic removal of dye was following the Langmuir - Hinshelwood model. The reaction rate constant and the adsorption constant were 0.0801 mg/L-min and 0.1514 L/mg respectively.
