Abstract

The objectives of this research intend to 1) explore marine wastes that can be used to design souvenirs with recycled materials from the Ban Khun Samut Chin community. 2) study the needs of community members by creating souvenirs from recycled materials from the Ban Khun Samut Chin community. 3) design souvenirs made from recycled materials of the Ban Khun Samut Chin community. 4) explore tourists' satisfaction with souvenirs made from recycled materials in the Ban Khun Samut Chin community.This study was qualitative research focused on the participatory process between researchers and the Ban Khun Samut Chin community members by gathering data from interviewing 12 leaders and community members and 23 tourists. This information was then analyzed by transcription and concluding. The research results have discovered that marine wastes can be used to design souvenirs with recycled materials from the Ban Khun Samut Chin community's; fishing equipment such as fishing nets, nets, ropes, and buoys because these marine wastes are effective in designing souvenirs and help to use resources effectively and reduce environmental impacts, lead to the production of souvenirs in the form of bags that were made of fish nets. Each production process from the Ban Khun Samut Chin community will not harm the community’s environment, nor will generate residues and the design of souvenirs must be beautiful, durable, and easy to maintain. The community aimed to raise awareness among tourists, rather than profit from souvenirs, and the feedback from the satisfaction of tourists with recycled souvenirs in the Ban Khun Samut Chin community was positive. Tourists unanimously commented that the idea of using recycled materials to design souvenirs was creative because it helped to reduce marine waste, protect community resources, and achieve sustainable development. The production process of souvenirs will not cause harmful residues to customers. In terms of use, tourists commented that it can be used repeatedly because of its beauty and durability. If it is damaged, the users can repair it easily, and more importantly, they can feel the environmental awareness conveyed by souvenirs.
