Abstract: | This research intends to develop a mobile search system which accesses traffic information from remote source. The overall work is software development of a search system that checks traffic status around Bangkok via GSM mobile phone by using SMS messaging. The system consists of three main modules: 1) The SMS interchangeable module which uses 2-Way SMS for allowing the interchange of messages, traffic query and result, between mobile device and the system. 2) The data retrieving module which feeds the Really Simple Syndication (RSS) document from NECTEC real-time traffic report website for traffic information retrieval. 3) The keyword adding module, the module that adds the name of interesting places around Bangkok which can be used for searching traffic status. This module applies Keyhole Markup Language (KML), the XML-based geographic data file, which contains information of Point of Interest (POI) of interesting places around Bangkok. The proposed system presents an alternative way for accessing traffic information anytime and anywhere with efficiency and economy. © 2009 IEEE. |
