Abstract: | The approach to integrate a common-mode choke and a switching transformer used in a flyback converter into a single magnetic core (E-I-C core geometry) is presented and studied in this paper. Using E-I-C core geometry, the reduction of total magnetic volume, total cost, and core loss of magnetic components can be achieved. In order to approve the effectiveness of proposed approach, the EMI reduction performances of proposed flyback converter without any EMI filter inserted, flyback converter with conventional EMI filter (with separate magnetic cores), and flyback converter with integrated magnetics are compared. Finally, the pros and cons of proposed approach comparing to conventional one are discussed. © 2016 IEEE. |
