This paper presents a design of switched beam antenna using parasitic elements for back lobe reduction to reduce interference signals coming from back side. A single circular patch is used to switch main beam pattern. Beam switching is controlled by shorted and open circuit at the edges of the patch while back lobe is reduced by shorted and open circuit at the parasitic elements. There are eight difference directions of beam switching. The maximum gain of the proposed antenna is 7.62 dBi and maximum back lobe reduction is 4.28 dB when parasitic elements are used. © 2017 Association for Computing Machinery.
