Abstract: | The experimental and numerical results of the study of the thermal resistance and fluid flow characteristics of a confined impinging liquid cooling vapor chamber are presented. Experiments are performed to verify the results predicted by the mathematical model. Effects of various parameters, heat source size, material of fin, channel width, and mass flow rate of the coolants on the cooling performance and thermal resistance characteristics are considered. A numerical analysis of a three-dimensional transient model of confined impinging has been carried out to evaluate the thermal and fluid-dynamic performances. By applying the mathematical modeling, the velocity and temperature distributions inside the vapor chamber are presented. Reasonable agreement is obtained between the measured data and the predicted results. These results are useful for the design to improve the thermal performance of the vapor chamber, and also diminished the expense and time of experiments. © 2018 by Begell House, Inc. |
