Abstract: | Six bioactive substances have been isolated from the fruit extract of Dillenia indica L., including a triterpene lupeol (1), together with a mixture of β-sitosterol (2a) and stigmasterol (2b), three flavonols, keamferide (3), dillenetin (4), quercetin (5), and β-sitosterol-d-glucoside (6). The structures of all isolated compounds were characterized by analysis of their spectroscopic data and by comparison with the reported value of the known compounds. The investigation of anti-xanthine oxidase activity shows that compounds 3, 4, and 5 were suitable xanthine oxidase inhibitors, with IC50 value in the range of 0.56-1.44 mM. Moreover, a molecular docking study of a potent xanthine oxidase inhibitor was performed to find the binding mode of the inhibitors into the binding site of xanthine oxidase. © RASĀYAN.
