dc.description.abstract Differential cross sections for the elastic scattering of 0.344 and 1.408 MeV 152Eu γ rays by Pb, W and Cu have been measured for scattering angles 15°, 30° and 45° using an Na I (Tl) detector. The experimental results have been compared with other experimental and theoretical results. Comparison with other experimental results [1,2] for the same 0.344 MeV gamma ray from 152Eu scattered on Pb and W shows that for all scattering angles our experimental cross sections are significantly below other results. But at 1.408 MeV, our experimental results are in good agreement (as shown in table 1). Comparison with the theoretical cross sections (for Rayleigh plus nuclear Thomson scattering), computed using the Hartree-Fock form factor [3] for 3 scattering angles at 0.344 MeV, shows that all experimental cross sections are below these theoretical cross sections. At 1.408 MeV if we include Delbrück scattering (using the amplitudes of Papatzacos [4] and Mork) we find the agreement between the experimental and theoretical cross sections for all scattering angles. © 1987.
